Newton Orchards is a fourth-generation family-owned fruit farm that supplies a variety of apples, pears, and cherries. It owns one of the largest orchards in Western Australia and supplies to major Australian supermarkets, Coles and Woolworths.
Singapore, 17 November 2020 – DiMuto, a trade technology solutions platform providing end-to-end supply chain visibility for global agri-food businesses, has partnered with Newton Orchards to begin traceability and marketing solutions for its produce, starting with this season’s Pink Lady apples.
Newton Orchards will use DiMuto’s 4T Suite Solution to tag its apples and generate traceability and supply chain visibility. Newton Orchards will also leverage DiMuto’s SMART Marketing service to communicate traceability to end consumers, while working closely with DiMuto as part of its trade network to explore export opportunities.
Based in Manjimup, Newton Orchards is a family-owned and operated fruit growing business established in 1929. Located near the Southern Forests region, Newton Orchards grows apples, pears, and cherries, and is one of the largest orchards in Western Australia. The fourth-generation growers provide over 7,000 tonnes of apples annually to leading Australian supermarkets Coles and Woolworths.
Newton Orchards was one of the earliest commercial growers of the Pink Lady apple, which was first developed in Manjimup. Newton also supports Bravo®, the newest apple from the same Pink Lady breeding program.
“We’re excited to partner with DiMuto as part of our commitment to delivering sustainable and safe food to Australian consumers.
By being able to trace every apple from farm to table, we can ensure the integrity of our produce and allow customers to enjoy apples in a way that’s closer to nature,”
said Harvey Giblett, Owner and Manager of Newton Orchards.
The DiMuto 4T Suite Solution creates traceability by capturing key data at critical supply chain stages as each piece of fruit moves through the supply chain. Each individual product and carton is tagged with a DiMuto QR code, assigning a digital identity to every item. These products and cartons are then digitized using DiMuto’s proprietary Digital Asset Creation device (DACky). The DiMuto platform records all key information at each supply chain milestone, effectively closing the supply chain loop on a single platform and enabling full supply chain visibility.

Each apple will be tagged with a DiMuto QR code that end users can scan using any mobile phone. Through DiMuto’s SMART Marketing solution—a sales, marketing, retention, and awareness tool—consumers will be directed to a product page where they can easily access traceability information and product origin. Consumers will also be able to learn more about Newton Orchards’ farms, farming practices, and meet the growers behind the apples. Educational content like recipes and videos, as well as promotions and lucky draws, will also be available. Consumers are encouraged to leave feedback on the products, providing Newton Orchards with valuable insights on product quality and customer experience.

DiMuto will assist Newton Orchards in conducting a digital lucky draw campaign, where consumers can enter the promotion via DiMuto QR codes and stand a chance to win an exciting range of products and grocery vouchers.
“We look forward to working closely with Newton Orchards to build a fully traceable supply chain.
DiMuto’s trade solutions provide growers like Newton Orchards with full supply chain visibility and allow them to tell their traceability story in a verified and accessible way to end consumers,”
said Gary Loh, Founder and CEO of DiMuto.
